HDF Group Announces Release of HDF5 1.10.6

Dec. 24, 2019 — The HDF Group announced the HDF5-1.10.6 release is now available for download. The HDF5-1.10.6 release includes new features and updates including CMake and performance improvements. The HDF5-1.10.6  can be downloaded from:

This release contains several important new features and changes, including:

• Improvements were made to the CMake support:
  • Support was added for VS 2019 on Windows (with CMake 3.15).
  • Support was added for MinGW using a toolchain file on Linux (C only).
• The S3 and HDFS Virtual File Drivers (VFDs) were added.
• Support was added for macOS versions 10.13.6 (Darwin 17.7.0) and 10.14.6 (Darwin 18.7.0).
• Performance was improved when creating a large number of small datasets.
• Numerous bugs were fixed.

Windows 7 Support

Please be aware that we will be dropping support for Windows 7 at the end of this year. It will be dropped for all HDF products in 2020.
